Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SCUSA polymer stripper clips, the Color-Coded Ammo ID™ System, and how to get the most out of your kit.

The Product
SCUSA polymer stripper clips hold 10 rounds of 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington in a single stack for fast AR-15 magazine loading. Unlike USGI steel clips, SCUSA clips weigh only ~3g each — 4× lighter than steel — and feature the patent-pending Color-Coded Ammo ID™ System so you always know which load type you're grabbing.
Olive Drab = M855 Green Tip (62gr steel-core penetrator, long-range). Black = M193 Duty & Defense (55gr, your go-to defensive load). Range Orange = M193 Training & Range (bulk FMJ for drills and practice). One color per load type — no labels, no guessing, no mix-ups. Ever.
Each SCUSA clip holds 10 rounds of 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington. Three clips fill one standard 30-round AR-15 magazine. The SLB Gen2 Loading Block holds a clip steady so you can drop in all 10 rounds and strip it onto your magazine in one clean motion.
Yes. SCUSA polymer clips are designed for repeated use. Load them, strip them into your magazine, collect them, and reload. The polymer construction is durable and corrosion-proof — no rust, no seized latches, and no degradation from long-term storage.
SCUSA polymer clips weigh ~3g vs ~12g for USGI steel — 4× lighter. A loaded MTM AC50C ammo can holds ~1,400 rounds on SCUSA clips versus ~1,200 on USGI steel. SCUSA clips are also corrosion-proof, color-coded by load type, and compatible with the Maglula StripLULA Gen II. USGI steel clips are not color-coded and can rust over time.

Compatibility
SCUSA clips are designed exclusively for 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington. They work with all standard brass-cased loads including M855, M193, and commercial ammunition. They are NOT compatible with 7.62x39, .308 Win, 9mm, or any other caliber.
SCUSA clips work with all standard AR-15, M4, and M16 magazines including PMAG, Lancer, USGI aluminum, and most aftermarket options — when used with the Maglula StripLULA Gen II loader.
The Maglula StripLULA Gen II is the only recommended speed loader. It strips 10 rounds from a clip into your magazine in under 10 seconds. Do NOT use metal USGI stripper clip guides — they will damage the polymer clip.
Yes. The SCUSA SLB Gen2 Loading Block is designed specifically for SCUSA polymer clips. It holds one clip steady while you drop in all 10 rounds and strip it onto your magazine in a single motion — fast, consistent loading, clip after clip.
SCUSA clips are designed and tested with brass-cased 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition. Steel-cased ammo may have slightly different case dimensions and lacquer coatings that can affect loading and extraction. We recommend brass-cased ammo for best results.
Storage & Organization
Approximately 1,400 rounds of 5.56 NATO on SCUSA polymer clips — compared to approximately 1,000 rounds loose. That's 40% more rounds in the same container, because loaded clips stack in organized rows rather than jumbled loose rounds.
Properly stored 5.56 ammunition can last 50+ years. SCUSA polymer clips are corrosion-proof and won't degrade or contaminate your ammo. For long-term storage, seal your clips in an MTM AC50C ammo can with Desiccare desiccant packs to control humidity. Store in a cool, dry location away from temperature extremes.
Loaded on clips. Storing ammo on SCUSA clips gives you more rounds per can, keeps ammo organized by load type using the color system, and lets you load magazines in seconds when you need to. There is no degradation to storing ammo on polymer clips long-term.
We include and recommend Desiccare desiccant packs — made in America. Desiccare uses molecular sieve technology that outperforms standard silica gel, especially in sealed ammo cans. Available in our ARMORY and ARMORY MAX kits, and as a standalone product.
