How to Use StripLULA® With Stripper Clips: Load a 30-Round Mag in Under 10 Seconds

The Fastest Mag Load in the Game

A 30-round AR-15 magazine loaded by hand takes 2–4 minutes. With stripper clips and a StripLULA, the same magazine takes under 10 seconds. Three clips, three pushes, done.

This guide covers exactly how to do it — the right clip orientation, the right StripLULA technique, and the mistakes that slow most people down.

What you'll need
  • SCUSA Polymer 5.56 Stripper Clips (Olive Drab, Black, or Range Orange)
  • SCUSA SLB Gen2 Loading Block — to pre-load your clips
  • Maglula StripLULA® Gen II (.223 / 5.56)
  • AR-15 / M4 magazine (any standard 30-round mag)

Watch It First

Before the step-by-step, watch the full process in real time. This is exactly how it looks with SCUSA clips and the StripLULA Gen II:

Step 1: Pre-Load Your Clips with the SLB Gen2

The StripLULA only works with pre-loaded stripper clips. If you don't have loaded clips yet, the SCUSA SLB Gen2 Loading Block is the fastest way to get there — 10 rounds per press, straight from the ammo can to the clip.

Once your clips are loaded, come back here for the StripLULA steps.

Step 2: Attach the StripLULA to the Magazine

Hold the magazine in your non-dominant hand with the feed lips facing up. Press the StripLULA down onto the magazine — it clips onto the feed lips and locks in place. You'll feel a positive click when it's seated correctly.

Common mistake

Don't squeeze the StripLULA onto the mag — press straight down. Side pressure causes misalignment and jams the first round. Straight down, positive click, then load.

Step 3: Orient the Stripper Clip

Hold a loaded SCUSA clip with the rounds pointing forward — the bullet tips should face the same direction as the magazine's feed lips. Slide the clip into the StripLULA guide channel from the top. The clip spine will rest in the guide groove.

The color of the clip tells you exactly what's loaded:

Olive Drab

M855 green-tip · Long range

Black

M193 duty · Defensive loads

Range Orange

M193 training · Range days

Step 4: Push Down — Load 10 Rounds

With the clip seated in the guide, place your thumb on the spine of the clip and push firmly downward. The rounds strip off the clip and seat into the magazine in one smooth motion. One press = 10 rounds loaded.

Remove the empty clip from the guide channel. You'll feel the StripLULA spring back slightly when the clip clears.

The numbers

10 rounds per clip · 3 clips per magazine
~3 seconds per clip · Full 30-round mag in under 10 seconds
vs. 2–4 minutes loading by hand

Step 5: Repeat × 3 — Magazine Full

Load a second clip the same way. Push down, strip, remove. Then a third. After the third clip the magazine is full — 30 rounds, properly seated, ready to run.

Remove the StripLULA by squeezing the release tabs on both sides and pulling straight up. The magazine is ready.

Pro tip — pre-stage your clips

Load all your clips before you start loading magazines. Set three clips out per magazine you're loading. You'll develop a rhythm — attach, orient, push, remove — that gets faster every time.

Troubleshooting

Problem Cause Fix
Rounds jam on first push StripLULA not fully seated Press straight down until you hear the click
Clip won't seat in guide Clip loaded backwards Rotate clip 180° — bullet tips forward
Rounds don't strip cleanly Pushing at an angle Keep thumb pressure straight down, not forward
Magazine won't seat after loading Round seated too high Tap the mag base on a hard surface to settle rounds

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the StripLULA work with all AR-15 magazines?

The Maglula StripLULA Gen II works with most standard AR-15 / M4 magazines including Magpul PMAG, aluminum GI mags, and most aftermarket 30-round magazines. It's designed for .223 / 5.56 NATO.

Will SCUSA clips work with other stripper clip spoons or guides?

SCUSA clips follow standard mil-spec dimensions and work with any standard 5.56 / .223 stripper clip guide. The StripLULA is the fastest option but any USGI-spec spoon will also work.

How many clips come in a 30-pack?

Each SCUSA 30-pack contains 30 stripper clips. That's enough for 10 fully loaded 30-round magazines — 300 rounds pre-staged and ready to run.

Can I reuse the clips?

Yes. SCUSA polymer stripper clips are reusable. Load, strip, reload. The polymer construction means they won't corrode, bend, or rust like steel clips do over time.
