How to Load Mags Fast at the Range: The SCUSA Range Day System
Two ways to run the SCUSA system on a range day — load at the range with the SLB Gen2 and StripLULA, or pre-load mags at home and grab and go. Fast either way.
Two Ways to Run the SCUSA System on a Range Day
Every range shooter has the same problem: you want to spend time shooting, not loading. The SCUSA system solves this two ways depending on how you like to run your range day.
Bring loose ammo + SLB Gen2 + SCUSA clips + StripLULA. Load clips and mags at your lane. Maximum flexibility, pack light.
Load 10 mags at home. Grab and go. Zero loading time at the range — just shoot.
Option A: Load at the Range
This is the most flexible approach for 100–300 round range sessions. You bring your ammo in the factory box or a small can, set up your loading station at your lane, and load as you go.
- SCUSA SLB Gen2 Loading Block
- SCUSA Stripper Clips — 30 clips loads 300 rounds (10 mags)
- Maglula StripLULA
- Ammo — loose or in factory box
- 3–5 empty AR-15 magazines
At your lane: set the SLB Gen2 on the bench, load 10 rounds onto a clip per press, then run three clips through the StripLULA into a magazine. One loaded magazine takes under 30 seconds from loose rounds. Load 3 mags, shoot, reload, repeat.
200 rounds ÷ 10 per clip = 20 clips to load
20 clips × ~6 seconds = ~2 minutes total clip loading time
20 clips → 6–7 magazines via StripLULA: ~1 minute
Total loading time for 200 rounds: under 3 minutes

Option B: Pre-Load at Home, Grab and Go
The night before a range day, spend 15 minutes loading 10 magazines at your home loading station. Walk out the door with 10 loaded mags, shoot 300 rounds, spend zero time at the bench loading. This is the cleanest range day setup.
- 10 pre-loaded 30-round magazines
- Magazine carrier or range bag with mag pouches
- That's it — everything else stays home
30 clips × ~6 seconds = ~3 minutes loading clips
30 clips → 10 magazines via StripLULA: ~2 minutes
Total home prep time: under 5 minutes for 300 rounds
Range loading time: zero
Which Option Is Right for You?
| Situation | Best Option |
|---|---|
| Quick range session, 100–200 rounds | Either — both work fast |
| Planned range day, 300 rounds | Option B — pre-load at home |
| You don't know how much you'll shoot | Option A — load as needed |
| Training drills requiring fast reloads | Option B — pre-staged mags, focus on shooting |
| You want to minimize range bag weight | Option A — bring clips instead of loaded mags |

How many clips do I need for a 200-round range day?
20 clips loads 200 rounds exactly. One 30-pack gives you enough for 300 rounds with 10 clips to spare. For regular range sessions, one 30-pack covers every trip.
Can I reuse the clips between range sessions?
Yes — SCUSA polymer clips are fully reusable. Load, strip, reload. After a range session, collect your empty clips, take them home, and reload for next time. They don't wear out under normal use.
Is the StripLULA worth it for range use?
Absolutely. Without it you're pressing rounds in by hand — 2–4 minutes per magazine. With it, three clips strips into a full magazine in under 10 seconds. Over a 300-round range day that's the difference between 30 minutes of loading and 3 minutes.
What's the lightest range bag setup with SCUSA?
Option A minimalist: SLB Gen2 (~4 oz), 30 SCUSA clips (~90g total), StripLULA (~3 oz), 3 empty magazines, and your ammo. Under 2 lbs of gear loaded up to 300 rounds at the range.
180 color-coded clips + dual SLB loading blocks + StripLULA® + 20× MIL-SPEC desiccants.
